Great Toaster Oven
Date: 2007-06-14 | Rating: 5
This is a great little oven. It perfectly toast's and the convection is great. I made boneless skinless chicken breast and it didn't dry out-it got a nice browned color on the suface after it cooked the appropriate time frame. It's senseless to heat up the kitchen with the regular oven-so this works wonders. It's got a lot of room inside and the crumb tray is removeable, making it easy to clean. The 2 racks that come with it is really handy when you have 3 people and toast to make for all 3 at the same time. The other toaster oven I had before this one only had one rack and not enough room. It's really easy to use and so far works really great. I was a little hesitant to order it at first because there were no reviews on it, but I took a chance and I'm glad I did.

Love it

This little oven is perfect. Excellent size for the counter and does everything it says. I love it.

I LOVE Mine!! :-)

This review is being transferred over from the other 31180 Toaster/Pizza Oven, which Amazon says is currently unavailable. They are both the same product. They wouldn't transfer my review or combine the two & name them properly, so I'm just transferring my old review & note the addendum at the bottom. As I always do, I wanted to wait awhile before placing my review online. I want to make sure that I am giving the product a fair shake. I got my HB Convection Oven in July of 2007, so I have definitely given it enough time to prove itself or screw up. I have no clue what the other reviewer could possibly be talking about. This oven is phenomenal! Not only does it accommodate six slices of bread, it will cook a whole 12" pizza! I am not having ANY problems with any door pins. It is quiet as a mouse, whether in regular or convection mode. The fan isn't noisy. The dials are not on an angle. The coating does not come off when I remove the racks for cleaning. I'll bet that post was written by a jealous competitor! I LOVE mine! It was worth every penny. I would buy it again and would not hesitate to give it as a gift. It doesn't even hold a candle to the Black & Decker that I had prior to purchasing this one. The timer has a loud enough ding that I can hear it from the living room. The compartment capacity is large enough that I can throw a whole chicken or roast with veggies in it without having to heat up my whole kitchen. That is a definite plus when you live in the desert! One of the things I like most about it is how it reheats leftover pizza. I like lots of cheese on mine & I like it cut in squares. In the old Black & Decker, half the cheese would melt off the sides of the pieces and fall to the bottom and burn. With the Hamilton Beach, it heats it up at just the right temperature so it gives it a perfect crispness and the cheese doesn't melt off and end up at the bottom of the oven. I tested the temperature of mine, and it's off by 25 degrees, but it's no big deal. I just set it accordingly. It may take a little longer to cook toast than my old oven, but I have never burned it. I think the only thing I would change is to give it the drop-down cleaning feature that my old B & D had. This one has a somewhat flimsy bottom rack to catch drips. Just leave it in place whenever you cook, clean it often & you'll be fine. Five thumbs up! Buy it! Addendum: As the oven neared a year old, I noticed that the temperature seemed to be farther off than before, at times by 75-100 degrees. I contacted Hamilton Beach and they agreed to replace the unit with no qualms. They were very courteous and professional during the discussion & I would STILL recommend this oven to anyone interested.

Nice product
Date: 2008-02-28 | Rating: 4
This item is everything that was advertised. I am able to bake bread, roasts, chicken, and many baked goods. Highly recommend for a low cost convection/toaster oven. The only negative i could say would be the convection oven itelf is not as good as the higher priced ovens, but very reasonable for the cost.

A few reservations
Date: 2007-09-16 | Rating: 3
I had high hopes for this my first convection oven. It was a replacement for my old and well-used little Black and Decker. I was a little confused by the icons for the toaster settings. Toast was unevenly browned and took longer than I am used to and it noticeably heated up my medium sized cabin kitchen. The only thing I am enthusiastic about is that the shape allows for a full sized round pan. To be fair, I will amend my review later if I judged prematurely.

Absolutely GREAT!
Date: 2005-09-04 | Rating: 5
This toaster oven is absolutely GREAT! With such an afforable price tag, I was a little doubtful, but I am soo glad a decided to purchase it. It evenly toasts breads such as english muffins, sliced bread and even italian bread. It bakes corn muffins and brownies perfectly. It heats up frozen pizza, french fries and mozzerella sticks perfectly. And even better than that, it cooks up steaks and sausage perfectly as well. It is very easy to operate and even easier to clean. It heats up quickly and cools off quickly as well. I just love it and I bet you will too.

Toasty..............................................
Date: 2007-09-26 | Rating: 5
The Hamilton Beach 6 Slice Toaster Oven is great for those early morning toasted bagels, english muffins or just plain toasted bread. We enjoy it almost every morning. Perfect for warming chicken and/or fish. Worth the money, works great.

Great toaster oven for baking
Date: 2008-01-15 | Rating: 5
I am very happy with this toaster oven. I already own a toaster, so I won't be using it for toast unless we have a houseful for breakfast. However, I missed my old toaster oven for the ability to bake a few potatoes without using my large oven, thereby saving energy and avoiding heating up the kitchen in the hotter months. This one fits the bill! It has a large oven capacity and I can even bake a casserole in it. I have heard that the 15 minute timer is too short, and while I agree, I just use my own timer. One interesting thing is that it takes less time to bake the potatoes than it does in my big oven. In the interest of full disclosure, I purchased this oven from Walmart because I wanted a black one.

Just what I was looking for !
Date: 2008-02-08 | Rating: 5
After taking the time to review many similar toaster ovens, this one offered what I was looking for at a much lower and competitive price. One of the features I was concerned about was if the timer had to be activated in order to operate. In fact it does, but with this oven the timing dial has two options, one for timed cooking the other a regular on/off position that you just turn it off when finished with use. The interior size is very large, so if you have a smaller oven now it will take a bit longer to heat up, but not by much. I've only had this for a month, but so far very pleased! Looks attractive on the counter. Would recommend. Thom - Boston

Happy with toaster

Got rid of my old toaster oven I got for my wedding (12 years ago) and bought this. Didn't want to spend over $100 on a toaster. Works well and I use it ever day. Have had it for one month. Pretty simple operation.

overcoming prejudice
Date: 2009-07-31 | Rating: 4
For some reason, the nameplate HAMILTON BEACH never clicked with me as an appliance super star, or even star. I stand corrected. I took a flier and bought this thinking it would probably go back. I'd done the same with other more expensive and disappointing toaster ovens so hope was not high. This oven has been a happy surprise. My acid test is this; one toasted piece of bread. How even is the brown. If it goes well here, all else will follow. I'm very happily surprised by the result and hope for a long life from this little box. The overall build quality is good. My only reservation would be - how long will the twisting timer last. It could become an issue, but I think that would happen far down the road. A toast to H.B.

Good so far
Date: 2009-10-17 | Rating: 4
Just bought this yesterday from Bed and Bath. Today I tried the toast feature. Used the light brown setting on some bagels, came out light brown. Next the dark brown setting; came out dark brown and not burnt. It works. As for the rack not being attached to the door(this appears to be an issue for some); this oven has two levels for the rack, this means you can't have that feature. The crumb tray removal is fine, you just need to wait until the oven cools off before removing it. It's also good as baking rack if you wanted to use it as one. Another problem with these units is a convection fan that's really loud. Not this one. Very quiet. Can't even tell it's on. The only thing I found so far that could be a problem are the metal strips on the door. One is right behind the handle and is rather easy to touch if your not careful.

Poor excuse for a toaster oven
Date: 2009-09-25 | Rating: 1
After 5 years of constant use, our little 4 slice toaster oven died, and missing the convenience of the small oven, I set on a quest to find a new one. I've read many reviews of both the ovens and the companies. We finally settled on the HB 31506. It seemed to have everything we needed. What a mistake! Where do I begin? The dials are almost impossible to read; it took 15 minutes to toast english muffins, then they fell on the floor; and the crumb tray is only accessible by manuevering around the heating elements. Why? Poor design. Here's the saga of the poor floor-bound engish muffins. I followed the directions to the letter (literally-I read the handy instruction booklet). What the book or anything else doesn't mention is that the rack does not advance when you open the door. So, I found some tongs and a pot holder to try to remove the rack. In doing so and too late, I realized that there is nothing to pevent the rack from tipping forward. The rack tipped, the muffins slid, and I gave up and had a bowl of cerial. Needless to say, the oven is back in the box and going back to the store. Basically, what was HB thinking?

Toastylicious
Date: 2006-01-11 | Rating: 5
As much as a toaster can, this one makes me happy :) It toasts evenly, and seems to be very well made in a tres cute-sturdy-classy way. The crumb tray is very convenient, and I think the slanted top of the toaster makes it even easier to get the toast out. This toaster toasts slower than some of the other models that I've tried, but I think it's worth the minimal extra wait. The Amazon price is decent too, especially if you purchase it with other items so that you get the $25.00 off, and of course, who doesn't love free shipping?

Great toaster
Date: 2006-08-18 | Rating: 5
I like this toaster a lot. It has a substantial feel to it. It stays put when you push the lever down, and the bread toasts relatively evenly. It's worth every cent.

LOVE THIS TOASTER!
Date: 2005-04-21 | Rating: 5
If you want the retro look and a super toaster.....this is the one for you. Toasts perfectly and looks great! I've had it about 4 months with no problems whatsoever. Make sure to measure your countertop area before ordering.....it's a big toaster. Shape is unusual (taller in back than the front)which gives it a little character! Excellent!

Nice Sturdy Toaster
Date: 2008-01-17 | Rating: 5
Toaster is much heavier than I thought it would be More of an industrial toaster which is great since I will not have to replace any more cheapos Works Great Nice finish Slots are wide and the toast lift is made of solid metal wire not the punched thin steel you see on cheap models

Works great so far
Date: 2009-09-17 | Rating: 5
I got this toaster about two weeks ago, and so far no problems. Benefits: it looks stylish (I got the white), the slice space is big enough for bagels, the toast is toasted and not burnt (I recommend third setting for frozen bread), and the whole thing doesn't get too hot to touch. There is also a disposal tray for crumbs, which I would expect. Downsides: it's big!!! I thought it would be much smaller and compact. Instead of a cute little round toaster I got a hulking beast. That said, I have a small kitchen and in a larger one this would not be a problem. If you are looking for something small though, this is probably not for you. If you just need something to do the job and don't have much cash, you might also want to look elsewhere. Note re seller: I specifically ordered this from Amazon / Target, as past reviews mentioned problems with some of the other sellers, and their ratings weren't always good. No problems with Amazon / Target. I can also recommend the matching blender.

Amazon.com Review
A kitchen essential in kitchens both small and large, this toaster oven is large enough to roast a 5-pound chicken or toast six slices of thick bread. It can be used for baking pies, cookies, and casseroles; for broiling fish, steaks, and burgers; and for toasting bagels and English muffins as well as browning gratins and cobblers. Its nonstick interior wipes clean with a cloth and its crumb tray is removable for quick cleaning. The oven offers baking temperatures from 200 to 500 degrees F. There are three toast settings, as well as Keep Warm, Broil, and Bake features. --Fred Brack

I love it!
Date: 2003-10-28 | Rating: 5
This toaster oven is perfect. I have had this oven for about 6 months and had enjoyed cooking meals in the summer months without heating up the entire house. I have even cooked a whole chicken in it. This oven cooks food evenly and I have had no problems with it at all. I highly recommend this product. Update. I still have this toaster oven and use it almost everyday. I still absolutely love it and don't understand why everyone else seems to have issues with it. I don't know what I would do with out this oven. I have owned it for over 3 years and it still works perfect. I recently cooked a prime rib in it and it turned out fabulous.

I am very pleased with this oven. heats evenly and the temperture controls are excellent. Also is very spacious, will hold a good amount of food. The only thing I wish it had was an extra rack. A large oven like this can handle two racks. The oven itself is very attractive, and looks nice on the counter. The large window is a plus, no need to open the door to check on food. I would highly recommened this oven . For the price you cannot beat it.

Great Product

I have had many toaster ovens and this by far is the best. I bought it because I have many Hamilton Beach products and have never had any problems. It toasts evenly and it is even great for brownies, cookies even pizza. Money well spent!

I ordered this product from amazon last year. So far I am happy with this product and no problem. Its on my daily usage for baking stuff. I like the feature to switch to broil/oven without flip the baking item. Love the temp control when on broil. I gave it 4 star because I hate the control knob. They should make it more visible so that I know where the knob is. I consider it a good product.

great toaster oven
Date: 2007-05-12 | Rating: 4
This toaster oven does a great job with all tasks, toasting, baking, broiling. The controls are easy to use. I like that the door lifts up rather than swinging down. And it is a perfect fit for my small counter. The only thing that's a problem is the crumb tray. It has to be removed from the back of the oven. And if anything large falls through the toasting rack, it won't come out through the crumb tray. And the toasting rack is not removable so you have to wrestle a fallen item up through the rack.
